Fried pickles have always been a favorite of mine. However, they tend to be extremely greasy and I often don’t feel like dealing with a fryer. To satisfy my pickle cravings, I decided to make crispy breaded ones in the oven.

How to Make Oven Baked Breaded Pickles

Ingredients:

  • 1 jar of dill pickle slices
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups panko bread crumbs
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Cooking spray
  • Salt
  • Cayenne Pepper
  • For Dipping: Dean’s Bacon Ranch Dip

First, heat oven to LO broil. Place cooling rack(s) on a baking sheet and spray with cooking spray. Baking them on the racks make them extra crispy.

Lay pickles out in a single layer, on a few layers of paper towels. Pat them dry with more paper towels and keep them out for about 5-10 minutes to ensure dryness.

Meanwhile, get out three large mixing bowls or shallow bowls:

  • In bowl 1 – mix flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder
  • In bowl 2 – mix eggs and worcestershire sauce
  • In bowl 3 – mix panko and parmesan cheese

Working with 5-8 pickles at a time, add pickles to flour mixture, then egg mixture, then panko mixture. Between coatings, lightly shake off excess mixture.

I highly recommend keeping a few paper towels at your work area so you can wipe off your hands when needed while working with the coatings. It can get messy.

Place fully coated pickles onto the baking sheet cooling racks.

Lightly cover the coated pickles with a dusting of salt and cayenne pepper, then spritz with olive oil cooking spray. The spray helps them become crispier.

Place baking sheet on the second level down from the broil heating element. Broil for 6-8 minutes, or until the tops brown.

Remove from the oven. Flip each pickle over, again lightly cover with a dusting of salt and cayenne pepper, then spritz with olive oil cooking spray.

Broil for an additional 6-8 minutes, or until the tops brown.

Remove from the oven and serve with Dean’s Bacon Ranch Dip. You can see the bacon pieces mixed right into the dip. Dean’s Dip has cool, creamy taste and texture, which pairs nicely with the crispy pickles.

Dean’s Bacon Ranch Dip is a new refrigerated dip that delivers a dairy-fresh taste. “Everything tastes better with Bacon”, right? They also have another new bacon dip: Dean’s Cheddar Bacon Dip. Dean’s Dip is convenient, easy to use, and is a “no brainer” product for gatherings. When my husband has all they guys over to watch the big game, I can easily put out a few different Dean;s Dips with appetizers and they are good to go.
