This FROZEN inspired Olaf snack post is part of a #FROZENFun sponsored campaign for #CollectiveBias. All opinions expressed are my own.

Snack time is always a favorite part of the day in my house. I like to frequently incorporate a movie or theme into the foods to make it more fun. With the DVD release of FROZEN coming next week, it only seems fitting to get the boys excited with a fun little snack.

First, I have to admit something. I have not seen FROZEN yet. There it is. I said it (someone tell me I’m not alone here). I do really want to see it. My three boys are between 2 and 4 years old, so a family trip to the theater has yet to be scheduled. However, they do pretty decent when watching movies at home. Therefore, I decided to wait for the DVD to be released on March 18th to watch it (with the boys, of course).

They have already seen previews for it and already love Olaf. I am sure they would adore an Olaf plush or little toy, so I headed to Walmart to see what I could find this week.

By the look of the shelves, I have a feeling the FROZEN merchandise is pretty popular right now. I couldn’t find any Olaf toys in stock, but then I remembered my best friend’s daughter.

She loves FROZEN and it was her first movie in the theaters so she is always talking about it or pretending to be someone from the movie. Since her fourth birthday is coming up in a couple weeks, I had to pick up a couple new FROZEN toys for her.

I knew I had to wrap the gifts right away to help prevent her finding out from my boys. Some light blue gift wrap with the touch of snowflakes fits the movie theme perfectly. Now to hope to boys don’t rip into it before her Disney birthday party next weekend!

Olaf Waffles & Fruit Snack

Since I was coming home without any new toys for the boys, I needed something to make up for it.

What better way than a fun snack? While I was at Walmart, I was also grocery shopping and grabbed Eggo waffles and fruit. Now this could make a snack on it’s own, but why not give it some Disney magic?

One of my favorite ways to decorate desserts is to use candy melts and pipe designs. It is easy, but looks like a lot of work went into it. I thought, how can I do that with something that’s not candy? I freeze yogurt in small dots for a kid’s snack and in cubes for smoothies. So why not try to make design with it?

I started by putting some non-fat vanilla yogurt in a freezer bag. It is best to flatten it out and put it into the freezer for 10-15 minutes. This will start to harden it just enough so it will not spread when used. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with wax paper.

Slightly snip a bottom corner of the freezer bag. Slowly squeeze it out on the wax paper in the shape of Olaf. If you need guidance (like I did), print a picture of Olaf and place it under the wax paper. For the waffles, the image had to be around 4 inches. This is important to remember so it fits. Place the baking sheet back into the freezer for 20-30 minutes to harden completely.

Thinly slice a few strawberries and cut into arms, mouth, face, and buttons. This works best with a small paring knife and patience. I used a straw to cut small circles for the buttons and eyes. The nose is a sliver of cantaloupe. Pop an Eggo Waffles in the toaster and let it cool slightly. This way Olaf doesn’t completely melt on contact.

Remove Olaf from the freezer and slowly remove from the wax paper. Place on the waffle and quickly add his body parts. Serve with fresh fruit.

Now we have to patiently wait until next week  (March 18th) for the FROZEN DVD release. I will be heading back to Walmart to purchase it because it will have a price drop from $16.96 to $14.96. For extra savings, be on the look out for specially marked packages of Eggo Waffles (24 count) for a $5 off offer for the FROZEN DVD.

Have you seen FROZEN yet?

My kids are obsessed with the movie! We’ve already pre-ordered it and there isn’t a day that goes by that my daughter doesn’t request that the soundtrack be playing on full blast. Love this breakfast idea!

We’ve seen Frozen and loved it–now the PTA is having a movie night once the DVD is released and we are going to attend that in PJ’s in the gym.

How adorable and CREATIVE! My kids would get a kick out of it (and the toys you purchased ;). I’m sorry to let you down, but we’ve seen Frozen 3 times already and are waiting on our DVD next week. You will love it!
