Temperatures are warming up and before you know it we will be in the heat of summer, so I am already thinking about summer entertaining (there’s always something to celebrate, right?). This Cherry Lemonade Whisky Cocktail makes a great drink for those relaxing summer days.
Last summer we did more entertaining than usual. Firepit, outdoor couch, table, barbecue grill, smoker, etc; Our backyard patio is always ready for guests. With hosting outdoor gatherings comes the responsibility to come up with a variety of food and drinks for everyone.
Sometimes we like to have themed gatherings, such as wine tasting night, small bites or southern tastes.
With southern night, a drink instantly comes to mind: Mint Julep. A classic drink with different variations. The classic Maker’s Mint Julep is simple:
- 2 parts Maker’s Mark® Bourbon, 1/2 part simple syrup, Fresh mint leaves
- Add all ingredients to glass & gently muddle the mint to express the oils. Add crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig.
The whisky we always use and have stocked in our home bar is Maker’s Mark® Bourbon. The taste notes are sweet and balanced with caramel, vanilla and fruity essences with a smooth and subtle finish. Did you know that every barrel of Maker’s Mark® is aged to taste, not time? That’s right, it’s up to the tasting panel (including the master distiller) to determine when the whisky is ready to bottle.
Their signature red wax puts on the final touch. After the bottles are filled, each bottle is hand-dipped, creating a unique drip. They have been made like that since the very first bottle and when I think of whisky, I immediately picture that red wax.
Another great drink with Maker’s Mark® Bourbon is this Cherry Lemonade Whisky Cocktail. It has summer written all over it.
