There’s nothing like hopping in the car, cranking up your favorite playlist, and hitting the open road with your best friend by your side.
Earlier this month, my friend and I enjoyed a girls’ getaway to Southland Casino Hotel in West Memphis, Arkansas. While I was graciously gifted this hosted experience, all opinions are completely my own.

A good road trip sets the tone for a great weekend. The four=hour drive from St. Louis to West Memphis is just a simple, straight shot down Highway 55.
We stopped for a late lunch halfway through in Sikeston, MO, at Lambert’s Cafe, home of the famous “throwed rolls.” If you haven’t been before, make it a must-visit! They serve hearty Southern-American classics in a lively, fun atmosphere.
2. Luxurious Accommodations at Southland Casino Hotel
We arrived at Southland in the evening and parked in the covered garage. From the moment we stepped inside, the clean, modern design and welcoming atmosphere had us ready to kick off the weekend.
Our room was stylish and cozy, featuring a floor-to-ceiling window. While the casino is just a quick elevator ride away, the rooms offer a peaceful retreat, being quiet and relaxing.
3. Non-Stop Casino Games and Entertainment
After settling in, we headed to the casino floor to grab drinks and try our luck. The energy was electric, with there is plenty of space to find your favorite game without feeling crowded.
With 2,400 slot machines and up to 50 live table games, there’s something for everyone. Even if gambling isn’t your thing, there is plenty to do. Southland frequently offers live entertainment, from music to special events, that truly elevates the experience. One of our highlights was enjoying cocktails at the bar while listening to live music.

What’s a getaway without amazing food and drinks? Southland delivers with eight dining options, each offering a unique flavor and vibe.
We loved starting our mornings (and grabbing late-night snacks) at The Grind. For dinner, we enjoyed an elegant meal at Ignite Steakhouse—reservations are highly recommended!
The Kitchens buffet is a must-try, especially on weekends with all-you-can-eat crab legs. With over 100 dishes to choose from, there’s truly something for everyone.
As for drinks, the Charred Oak Bourbon Bar was our favorite spot. It’s conveniently located near the hotel lobby, and our bartender, Mary, was the absolute best! She was friendly, fun, and made our experience extra special.
5. Proximity to Memphis, TN
While Southland Casino Hotel has everything you need for a full weekend, just a quick 10-minute drive across the river is Memphis, TN if you’re in the mood to explore.
On Saturday morning, we ventured out to a local farmer’s market in Memphis, followed by some boutique shopping and a stroll down Beale Street.
If you’re planning a Memphis trip, consider staying at Southland. It is close to the action but outside the busy downtown streets, plus you get the added bonus of a casino and entertainment right at your hotel.
