Coffee has always been one of my favorite beverages. Not a day goes by where I don’t enjoy at least one cup. When I think of coffee, I always think of Starbucks. If I am out running errands, I cannot resist driving through a Starbucks drive-thru for a fresh cup of deliciousness. When it comes to drinking coffee at home, I still can depend on Starbucks to get me through the day.
The month of March brings a lot of great things around my house. My husband gets a year older, spring begins, barbecues start back up and college basketball tournaments are always on. We like to host gatherings at our house almost weekly to watch games, barbecue, snack, play cards and relax. Sometimes our gatherings aren’t planned and end up being last minute with people showing up at the house with little notice. For that reason, I always keep easy snack foods in stock, especially chips.
When I first started Nifty Mom a couple years ago, I initially just wanted to share great deals and coupons. Then, I started to meet fellow bloggers, networking, and getting more involved in the blogosphere. Last year, with three kids under three, it was getting more and more difficult to constantly post deals and coupons throughout the day, so I s-l-o-w-l-y started to do more reviews, recipes, activities and other non-coupon posts. My goal was to become more of a lifestyle blogger and put the ‘nifty’ more into my site. Then in September, a fellow blogger posted in a Facebook group that Social Fabric was open for new members. Since I have only heard good things about them, I figured it couldn’t hurt to apply. To my surprise, I got accepted and was welcomed with arms wide open.
A couple years ago when I started Nifty Mom, one of the first posts I wrote was how to make an Easter Bunny Cake (which was adapted from this video I saw). The cake was a huge hit with family and friends plus it’s pretty simple to make. With Easter coming up, I have been thinking about the cake again. Since it was my first attempt at cake decorating and it lacked pictures, I decided to update the tutorial for you with step-by-step pictures and the addition of carrot topped cupcakes.
When I first moved out on my own, I struggled with cooking. I had two main things that I could make that didn’t involve a box of cereal or lunch meat. I’ve had my share of kitchen disasters and the one that stands out most was my first attempt at no bake cookies.
When you think of the brand Green Giant, what do you think of? The first thing that comes to my mind is vegetables and side dishes. But Green Giant has a very giant surprise. They have a new product that is unlike their other product lines. It is a delicious healthy snack made with vegetables but you won’t find in the vegetable or frozen food aisles. They have introduced the new Veggie Snack Chips.
Last month was pretty rough for my kids and I, as it was filled with fevers, runny noses, ear infections, coughing and RSV. It seemed just as one of them would start feeling better, another would get sick and they just passed it back and forth between the three of them. With my little guys, I am always cautious about giving them medicine and try to avoid it as much as possible. Every time I go to the store for medicine, it’s hard to pick what would be best with half an aisle and at least five shelves dedicated for children products. One brand I have always trusted is Little Remedies.
