For many families, the first day of school is within a few weeks, if not days. As we gear up for the big day, it doesn’t hurt to keep in mind our peers. Giving a little gift to fellow students, teachers, and/or staff members can go a long way and lighten up the first day back. While this first day of school snack mix and printable gift tags are sponsored by Honeycomb, all opinions are my own.
With school starting in 10 days for us, tomorrow we start working our routines and schedules to that of the school year. The kids will start going to bed a little earlier each day, wake up earlier, eat meals closer to times to that of a school day, etc. I try my best to get us all back into that routine, since the summer is more relaxed and not as structured.
All the kids will start setting their alarm clocks this week. Then to start the day we have to be sure to eat breakfast by a specific time, as we would on school days. We always have a meal plan with a variety of breakfast options and some of those hectic mornings call for a cold bowl of cereal.
Classics never go out of style, and that stays true for cereal. Cereal I grew up eating still makes appearances in my home, such as Honeycomb. It combines sweetened corn with a big honey flavor in it’s unique hexagonal shapes, giving it a big crunch. Thinking bigger than a just a tasty breakfast, the big shape of the cereal pieces make for a perfect snack (such as after-school).
One morning while the kids were enjoying a bowl of Honeycomb, I was making a list of back-to-school tasks I still needed to complete. That’s when I thought it would be a fun idea to make a little snack mix and gift tags for peers and/or teachers.
For the snack mix, I simply used Honeycomb cereal, with black-coated chocolate candies and yellow bean-shaped sugar candies sprinkled in. To make the snack mix a gift for the beginning of the school year, you can put the mix into 4×6″ plastic bags and/or mason jars. The Honeycomb cereal inspired me to make labels that go with the mix and honey theme.
*PRINT MASON JAR TAGS*
For the mason jar idea, print the tags on cardstock and cut out. There is a circle shape that you can attach to the top of the mason jar and an actual tag you can hole punch and tie around the lid. This could be a great gift for a new teacher or staff member you will be communicating with often (nurse, specials teacher, etc).
The label would also be great to sneak into your little one’s lunchbox on the first day of school.
*PRINT SNACK BAG LABELS*
The snack bags are smaller, so they make great classroom gifts. The filled 4×6 plastic bags are longer, so I fold it over about an inch before I add the label. Then fold the label (print here) in half and staple it onto the bag with two staples at the bottom. Super easy and super cute.
The snack mix gifts can brighten someones day with the classic Honeycomb cereal bursting with honey flavor. Who would you gift the mix to?
