In less than two weeks is Mother’s Day and I am trying to get ahead of the game by getting everything made now. Even though I think all moms should be celebrated daily, I enjoy giving a little extra on Mother’s Day. The most popular gifts have always been those that are homemade, one-of-a-kind, and are made with the help of my little ones.
My favorite projects to do with my kids are ones that can double as gifts. I just love giving loved ones homemade gifts, especially ones the boys made. With Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and birthdays coming up, we have been making a lot of different things, such as these DIY jars with layered faux colored sand.
The kitchen is basically the center of our house. Between prepping for meals, cooking, snacks and cleaning, we spend a lot of time there. Often when I am trying to get things done, if they aren’t eating, the boys are running around and making a mess. I have to quickly find something to get their attention and keep them busy.
I am always trying to find ways to sneak some learning into everyday activities. With two preschoolers, they find it fun and we often do it while getting two things done at once. This can be as simple as making snack time a learning time as well. For some snack time fun, I created some new activity sheets just for Froot Loops.

Games. Games. More games. That is what I hear almost daily from my sons. They love board games and I try to accommodate their desire to play them as often as possible. To make game playing beneficial, about 90% of the ones we own are educational and target numerous skills.

When someone gets sick on our house, a one-day virus can easily turn into a few week ordeal. It doesn’t take much for my 2, 3, and 4 year old to pass around the sickness like a ping pong ball. No matter how much I try to prevent it, every year it happens. We have to find ways to stay busy indoors during these times, and crafts are always a hit.
I can’t believe Thanksgiving is already over and it’s just about December. Even though I am sad how fast this year went by, I am overjoyed about the holiday season. To get the kids excited this week, we made a Christmas Bucket List, complete with their own tree and ornaments.
