I love having friends and family over and take any chance I get to host a party that involves food. One of my favorite times to do so is during football season. Normally when I want to have a big party, I like to go all out. I spend hours in the kitchen making lots of food, decorating an awesome cake, and setting everything up for the party. Which can sometimes leave me exhausted and allow for less time enjoying the company. I decided the next big football party we host (in a few weeks), I am going to spend less time in the kitchen. Right away, I knew my one-stop shop to make this happen: Sam’s Club.

You are My Sunshine – Handprint Sun

My kids love painting and doing art projects. Instead of doing our normal finger painting project this time, I wanted to do something different. It was a cold, gloomy day so we needed some sun! My sons are two and three and really enjoyed each step especially tracing their hands (well I traced most of them but my three year old did a few as well).

NEED:

Yellow Paint
Yellow construction paper or scrapbook paper (I had different shades in my scrapbooking supplies so I used a few different ones)
Paper Plate (or yellow paper cut into a circle)
Pencil/Pen to trace
Scissors
Glue

If you are using a paper plate, paint it yellow and let it dry. Meanwhile, trace about 20 hands on yellow paper and cut out.

Glue the hands on the back of the plate layering them.

Take it Further: Add a smiley face or write “You are My Sunshine” on it and give it to a loved one!

Recently, you may have noticed a pattern in my articles regarding my desire to eat healthier. It has not just stemmed as a New Years Resolution, but as my inclination to keep the recently shredded pounds/baby weight off. Sometimes, when I find companies that offer great foods that are also good for me, it really makes my health-eating easier. Two brands I have been using lately include Jennie-O Turkey Store and Wholly Guacamole.

It’s hard to believe tomorrow is the start of a new year. Since most of the holiday festivities have past, I am been thinking about ways to eat healthier and become more fit. With my three kids being so close in age, this is the first time in about four years I can actually set some goals and work to get fit without being pregnant or nursing. If I decide to make a recipe, I can easily add it to my calorie intake with just a click. I love the convenience.

I really enjoy the easy, viewable schedule. Each day I get a new tip or exercise routine to help me get fit and stay healthy. I can mark it complete and add it to my log after I do the routine and keep track of my progress. There is also a journal area to write down how I am feeling along the way. I like to jot down my own motivational thoughts that I can look back on if I get off track. I believe self-motivation is the key to success, even if I need addition motivation.
