Slowing Down to Connect with Family over Coffee and Brunch

I am sharing this post about slowing down and connecting with family over coffee as part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias®.  All opinions are my own.

I am sure I am not the only one who always feels rushed. No matter what I have going on, it seems like I have 100 other things I also need to be doing so I’m trying do it all at once, quickly. At least once a week, I need to remember to slow down, relax, and enjoy time with loved ones.

I didn’t understand how she could down a pot or two of coffee a day. I didn’t understand why she drank coffee mid-day or in the evening. It wasn’t until I was living on my own, and more when I became a mom, that I understood. Now, I am pretty sure I drink more coffee than she does.

I am lucky to have my parents live within 15 minutes of me. However, must of the time they are coming over to watch the kids. Sometimes on the weekends we get together and go shopping, run errands, but always on the go. Often we are still rushing to get things done or be in other places.

But then there are the times on the weekends when they come over, no hectic plans needed. While the kids run around trying to keep us on our toes, we pour some coffee and have a small brunch. Our love for coffee gives us a great reason to sit down and spend some time together.

It gives us a moment to slow down and connect again. I think we all need moments like that. It is important to set aside some time to collect ourselves and remember we don’t have to rush and take on 100 tasks at once. The dishes aren’t going anywhere, the laundry will never be all clean at once, the groceries can wait, and the toys will be back on the floor within minutes. So sometimes, it’s nice to just block those thing out (for a moment or two) and relax. For me, there is no better way to do that, than over a nice cup (or more) of coffee with my parents.

On crazy, normal days, strong bold coffee does the job. But when I want to relax and enjoy the moment, I like to add some flavored creamer and whipped cream. My creamer of choice for the Fall is always Pumpkin Spice. It’s rich flavor reminds me of the wonderful holiday season among us. That same holiday season that makes life even more hectic. Which means I will be needing more weekend brunches over the next few months to remind myself to slow down.

I am SUCH a sucker for Coffee-mate Pumpkin Spice creamer. I’m someone who hoards arm-fulls of bottles when it’s going away ;) Gorgeous pics, too!

That’s a great idea! I am going to try it in an iced coffee this weekend :)

My sister lives far away so unfortunatley brunch is not in the plans for us! To stay connected, we skype often! It allows my kids to feel like their aunt is part of their life!

Brunch on Sundays is such a perfect time to sit and catch up with family. Oh, and I ADORE Coffee-Mate’s pumpkin spice creamer. It’s delicious and definitely rivals the taste of the PSL (for a fraction of the cost)! Hope you have a great week :)

What a great idea!! I do love my coffee, but I’m always drinking it on the go. Maybe I do need to slow down for once and enjoy it :)
